4 Regular Aluminium Scaffoldings

The Single-Width Towers

A single-width aluminium scaffold tower has a narrow frame. It is useful in corridors, beside shelves and in other areas with limited floor space. Also, you need to check the doorway and the working area before choosing the size. Allow extra room for stabilisers—the support legs that extend out from the tower.

The Double-Width Towers

A double-width tower gives workers more space on the platform. It is used in fitting ceiling panels, installing air ducts and jobs that need tools close at hand. Usually the width is 1.45 m, and that is 600 mm wider than its 0.85 m tower.

The Folding Aluminum Scaffolding

Folding aluminum scaffolding has a base frame that folds for storage and transport. It suits maintenance teams move between buildings. For portable aluminum scaffolding, you need to check the folded frame size and the platform length. Guardrails, platforms and other required parts still need to be fitted before start. If you plan to add height later, ask which extensions the tower is designed to take.

The Stairway Towers

A stairway tower has stairs inside the frame. It is useful when workers need to climb up and down many times. Include the stairs, handrails and landings in your order. Tell us how much clear platform space you need after these parts are fitted.

1.The Stairwell Towers

A stairwell tower stands over an existing staircase. Its supports sit at different levels while the working platform stays level.
As a product example, Alto’s Stairwell-Pro has a 1.2 m platform length. Its supports are designed for use around stairs. This is a separate product type, not an ordinary wheeled tower placed on steps. Send the staircase width, step height, step depth and the height of the work. Ask about stairwell access.

2.One-Person Towers And Low-Level Platforms

A one-person tower is designed for one trained person to assemble using the maker’s instructions. A small tower is not necessarily a one-person tower.

For reference, the BoSS SOLO700 is 0.7 m wide with a 1.3 m platform length. Its base can also carry the parts as a trolley. For work closer to the floor, ask about a low-level platform with guardrails. Send the height you need so we can check the available options.

3.The Bridge Towers And Linked Towers

A bridge tower supports a platform between two towers. This can provide access above equipment or an opening where supports cannot stand.
Linked towers join several sections to create a longer working area. They may be useful along a wall or beside a large machine.

4.The Cantilever Towers

A cantilever tower has a platform that extends beyond the main frame. It can help workers reach a place where the tower cannot stand directly underneath.

Solar Panel Installation

Hi-Point Scaffolding used tower systems for A Shade Greener’s solar installation work. The team could erect towers at more than twice as many houses per day compared with its traditional scaffolding method. The work supporting more than 400 home installations per week. Train Roof Maintenance

Another project needed a 4 m² working area with guardrails at roof level. Workers needed access to remove and replace silencer sections.

The solution used double-width towers, stairs, bridge panels and a second access route made with single-width towers. Several products worked together to serve one job. For similar work, send a drawing of the machine or vehicle. Include the areas workers need to reach.

Painting Beside a Busy Road

The building stood beside a main road, so space was limited. The tower choice helped provide frequent access for painting within that tight space. For this kind of job, check the full ground area needed by the tower and support legs.

Load Limits and Standards

When we talk about the load limit of the platform and the whole tower. People, tools and materials all add to the load. For European mobile towers, EN 1004-1:2020 covers the tower design within its scope. EN 1004-2:2021 covers the instruction manual.

In some standard, the height scope up to 8 m outdoors and 12 m indoors. Each model has its own allowed height and setup, so these height are not fix for every tower.

Aluminum Scaffold Platforms and Planks

The platform is the surface for workers stand on. There are different surface material, and also have open or no open board for the ladder.

A trapdoor platform can have an aluminium or plywood surface. The material and the door are two separate choices. For an aluminum scaffold platform, check the length, width, hooks and locking parts. Aluminum scaffold planks of the same length may fit different systems.

Ladders, Stairs and Handrails

Some towers have a climbing ladder built into the end frame. Others use a separate ladder fitted inside the tower.

Order the ladder and trapdoor platform together so the opening is in the right place. For a stairway tower, include the stairs, handrails and landings.

Scaffold Castor Wheels and Adjustable Legs

Castor wheels allow the tower to move and the adjustable legs help level the tower within the limits in its instructions.

Irontrix lists 6-inch braked PU wheels in its range. For a replacement, please send the wheel diameter, wheel width and the size of the stem that fits into the tower.

Check what the brake locks: the wheel, the swivel movement, or both. A wheel’s load rating is not the load limit of the whole tower. For an aluminum rolling scaffold, also check the floor and the route between work positions. Static towers may use approved base plates instead of wheels.

Frames, Braces and Locking Pins

Frames form the main tower structure. The range may include ordinary end frames, ladder frames, folding bases and frames with a walk-through opening.

Horizontal braces put across the tower, and diagonal braces run at an angle. Order them by length and hook type. Small parts include joint pins, locking clips, brace hooks and platform locks.

Guardrails and Toe Boards

Guardrails surround the working platform and help protect workers from falling. Toe boards set along the platform edges to help stop tools and materials falling off.

Toe board is a separate side or just as a folding set. Order the matching clips or holders as well. Some towers use special guardrail frames during assembly, also they must match the tower system.

Stabilisers, Outriggers and Special Parts

Stabilisers and outriggers are extend out from the tower. They need extra ground space, so check their open dimensions. Special towers may also need aluminium beams, cantilever frames, gap-filling decks or ties to a supporting structure. These parts must follow the tower design.

What Is Included in a Complete Tower?

The exact contents depend on the tower model and height. A complete set should include the frames, braces, platforms, climbing access, guardrails, toe boards and the base and support parts needed for that setup.

Packing and Shipping

Good packing can protect the product. Wrapping helps reduce scratches and the parts also need firm support and straps to stop movement during transport. Discuss the packing method with Irontrix when you place the order.

Packing by Set or by Bulk

If the goods will go to different branches or job sites, packing by tower set can make sorting easier. Each package can mark the tower-set number.

For a warehouse order, you may prefer to group the same parts together. For example, frames can be packed separately from platforms and braces.

Full Containers and Shared Containers

FCL means your order load in a full container. LCL means your goods share container space with other customers.

The packing should suit that shipping method. Cases or crates can be discussed for sample orders . The number of towers per container depends on the tower sizes, complete parts lists and packing. Platforms, stairs and support legs also occupy the space.
